Makati City, Philippines – May 23, 2025 – The FLORA (Female Leaders in Organic and Rural Advancement) Awards celebrated four remarkable women leaders during a formal ceremony held at Dusit Thani Makati. This event recognized their groundbreaking efforts in uplifting rural communities across the Philippines.
The ceremony began with an invocation by Bro. Felipe C. Belleza Jr., a member of the MFI Advisory Council and Trustee of the De La Salle Brothers. Inspirational messages were delivered by Mme. Malou C. Cristobal, President of the Multinational Foundation, Inc. (MFI), and Atty. Patricia-Ann T. Prodigalidad, President of the TOWNS Foundation, Inc.
“Our awardees exemplify that women in the countryside are not just caretakers of the land—they are catalysts for change,” stated Mme. Cristobal in her opening address.
Dr. Catherine Vistro-Yu of the TOWNS Foundation presented the judging criteria, emphasizing the values of innovation, sustainability, leadership, and community impact. She also acknowledged the esteemed FLORA Board of Judges for their essential role in the selection process.
The 2025 FLORA Awardees are:
- Dr. Mary Hazel B. Ballena – Bucay, Abra
- Ms. Ervie Ann C. Conte – Surigao del Norte, Caraga
- Dr. Marife M. Lacaba – Catbalogan, Samar
- Ms. Ma. Ruby C. Primero – Mina, Iloilo
Each awardee shared heartfelt messages, reflecting on their journeys and commitment to sustainable development, women’s empowerment, and community resilience.
In his closing remarks, Atty. Rene G. Bañez, Chairman of the Multinational Foundation, Inc., expressed deep admiration for the winners, declaring the winners are lighting the path forward—not just for their communities but for the entire nation.
The FLORA Awards are a joint initiative of the Multinational Foundation, Inc. and the TOWNS (The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service) Foundation, Inc., established to recognize and support women who lead transformative work in rural areas.
