Michelle Rubio, an innovative educator, has developed unique strategies to make reading and learning more motivating for her pupils. Her Out-of-the-Box approach includes using awards and rewards, such as providing free snacks from her own pocket in exchange for accomplished modules. She also launched a 2020 Christmas Party that involved visiting all 324 of her pupils dressed in Santa attire, and giving them food packs and Christmas presents. Rubio continues to employ her Reading in a Car strategy, and has set up Pinkdemic corners to allow parents to borrow books. She has encouraged other schools to implement her Reading Recovery Area innovation, which she calls Resort for Learning.
